INFORMATION ON 2011-2012 MEMBERSHIPS

There have been no fee increases this year for any memberships, however there is still an added fee if you choose to obtain your membership online versus onsite at a tournament or through the State office. The fees for online processing are up to $5.00 for all memberships.  You are not required to obtain your membership online and pay the extra fee, but you can if you choose to.

Reminder #1: Coaching memberships require that all coaches have to complete and pay for a background check every two years. If you obtained your coaches membership last year (between 9/1/10 and 8/31/11), you do not need to do another background check this year.  The background process is managed by the national office and can only be completed via online.  The background check is valid for two years.  A background check that was performed by another institution will not satisfy the requirements.

Reminder #2:  physical cards will no longer be issued from the office.  Instead, once your membership has been renewed/purchased and the information has been entered into the system, each member is required to log into their account and print their own card.  Coaches cards will not be available for printing until they have passed the background check if you did not complete one last year.

Coaches -  if you have not completed the background check last year, you need to do that first before your membership can be renewed/purchased.   This is to prevent the office from having to refund memberships when a background check fails.  To complete the background check, log into the system (www.usawmembership.com) and click on the link BG at the top of the page.  Once you have passed the background check, you can renew your membership either online ($39.75) or through the State office ($35.00).  Once your membership is updated, you would log into the membership site and follow the instructions to print your membership card.

New this year:  If you want to coach your athlete, in the corner of the mat, or you want to officiate a match, you will be required to take and pass the Concussion testing. This is a new law for Minnesota events and covers all events, local and State competitions.  Once you take the test, there will be an option for you to print the confirmation.  Make sure you print the page and bring it with you to events.

NOTICE: If you did not provide an email address when you renewed/purchased your card from your club or at a tournament, you will need to contact either Donita Flodeen at the MN USA State office or the National office with an email address in order for you to print your card.  Otherwise the online system thinks you are new and it will ask you to pay the membership fee again.  You can contact Donita at 507-263-3964 or 651-205-8600 or dflodeen@mnusawrestling.org

Update on Purchased Cards

Membership cards purchased at tournaments will be updated within 3 days of receiving the information from the host club.  Listed below are the tournaments that have been entered for the 2011-2012 season:

The memberships purchased at the following Folkstyle tournaments have been entered into the system and you should be able to log in and print your card:

Andover               Flat Earth         Rogers        White Bear Lake          New Prague

Forest Lake       Stewartville        St Francis    Simley                       Scott West

Moorhead            Cannon Falls     Anoka       Champlin Park             Lake Crystal

Shakopee            Park

Follow the instructions listed below for Membership Instructions to print your card.  If you receive an error message when attempting to obtain your logon id and password it may be because:

1) An email address was not provided when you purchased your card.

2) The information was not legible so it could not be entered correctly.

3) I entered the information incorrectly into the database.

In any case, you need to contact me (Donita Flodeen) to update your profile before logging in if you get the error message.   You can contact me at 651-205-8600 or 612-709-1932.

Print your USA Membership Card

Once you have purchased your membership card and it has been entered into the system (typically 4-5 days from date of tournament if you purchased it at a tournament), you should receive an email with your login id and password.  The information is sent by the national office.  Check your 'spam' or 'junk' mailbox as sometimes the email ends up there.

If you did not receive an email and it has been 4-5 days since you purchased the card, go to www.usawmembership.com and above the blue box there are two links.  Click on the one that says you "forgot your id and/or password".  A pop-up blocker message may appear, which if it does, you will need to authorize pop-up blockers temporarily, then go back and click on the link again.  Once you have allowed pop-up blockers and click on the link, in the top left corner of your screen a box should appear where you need to enter in the email address that you used when you purchased the membership.  Within a few seconds, the email will be sent to you with the id/password.  You would then log in using that information.

If you still do not receive your id/password, you will need to contact Donita Flodeen for assistance.  She can be reached at 507-263-3964 or 651-205-8600.

Once you have your id and password, go to www.usawmembership.com In the blue box you enter the id on the first line, and your password on the second line.  The password is case sensitive.  Then follow along with the instructions.  You will be asked to acknowledge some consents/waivers before being able to print the card.  In the top left column of the page, there is a link that indicates "Print my card(s)", click on that and scroll down and you should be able to print your card.

Purchase a USA Wrestling Membership

There are two options for purchasing a membership, online or through the State office.  The online process has an added cost (up to $5.00 per membership) charged by the Natonal office.  Follow the link below for the online process.   You can save up to $5.00 by purchasing the membership through the State office.

The second option is through the State office. Please complete the membership form  (2012 Membership form found below) and mail the form along with the appropriate funds to:

MN USA Wrestling
PO Box 231
Cannon Falls, MN 55009

The cost is $31.00 per athlete membership and $35.00 per coach membership.  Please provide name, address, phone number, date of birth, email address and club associated with (if applicable) with your request.  The email address is very important this year and date of birth is required for all members (coaches included).  If you are a club submitting information for your entire membership, it works better to create an excel worksheet with the data, email that to Donita Flodeen at dflodeen@mnusawrestling.org and follow up by printing the document and mailing it with the payment to the address above.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Donita Flodeen at 507-263-3964 or dflodeen@mnusawrestling.org

USA Wrestling Membership Information - Online process

This link will take you to the National office website that will allow you to join online as a new member or renew an existing membership. It will also provide information about membership benefits, services, obtain Club and Event Sanction Information & Forms and Insurance Information & Forms click here.

Club Membership Process

This year the National office is trying to avoid sending out packets of information, and rather encouraging everyone to utilize the website to obtain your information.

All forms can be found at attached link.  http://www.themat.com/section.php?section_id=7  Scroll down the page to Information and Forms.

You can choose to become a charter member online or you can print the forms and mail them in to the State office:

MN USA Wrestling
PO Box 231
Cannon Falls, MN 55009

The 2011-2012 fee's are as follows:

Club Charter                      $65.00
Insurance Certificate          $20.00
Event Sanction                   $40.00

Athlete Membership          $31.00

Coach Membership           $35.00

There is an added fee if you choose the online process of up to $5.00 per transaction. You can avoid this fee by mailing the information to the State office.

PLEASE NOTE:
If you are hosting a USA Sanctioned Event, you must complete the Event Sanction form and get it to the State Office ASAP, but at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

At State tournaments, only clubs that are Chartered Members will be separated from each other (whenever possible).  Athletes from a club that chooses to not Charter will be listed as "unattached" and will paired by luck of the draw.

Use the form above to request memberships for your club.  Have them completed by the member, then mail in the forms along with the payment.  This will save each member up to $5.00 each.  If the club is submitting the memberships, please put the data together in an excel document and email the document to Donita, follow it up with a copy of the worksheet with the payment.  Please put the first and last name into separate fields, as well as the zip code (makes it easier for entering the memberships).

Guest Coach - 2008 Olympian Marcie Van Dusen - Dec 11

By Chad Shilson, MN/USA Wrestling Girl’s/Women’s Director & Coach

Marcie Van Dusen, 2008 Olympian and past US National Team member is coming to Minnesota on December 11th, to be the guest coach at MN/USA Wrestling’s All Female Wrestling Practice.

Marcie is widely considered one of the best female clinicians in the sport today. She has run practices for various teams across the country over the past few years and is excited to be part of this year’s MN/USA Wrestling All Female first practice of the season. She is also currently head coach of the Menlo College women’s wrestling team in Atherton, California. Menlo College currently competes in Women’s College Wrestling Association (WCWA).

“I’m excited to have Marcie attend one of the first practices of the year. She is an excellent technician and a model example of dedication and the rewards of hard work. Marcie is a great role model for the sport, and having her at our practice is an asset to MN Women’s wrestling. It is a great opportunity for the girls to learn from her coaching, discipline and life experiences that were granted to her through wrestling”, said Rachael Holthaus, MN/USA Wrestling – Girl’s/Women’s Assistant Director & Coach.

MN/USA Wrestling’s All Female Practices are held on various Sundays throughout the season at the Pinnacle Wrestling School facility. All participants of the All Female Wrestling Practices must have a current USA Wrestling card. Cards will be available for purchase at the December 11th practice. For more information click here.
