Intense Action Continues at the 2024 MN/USA Wrestling State Duals

Rochester, MN. – 3/14/2024:  Round 2 of the highly anticipated 2024 MN/USA Wrestling State Duals proved to be nothing short of thrilling, with each match delivering good competition.  Among the standout matchups, Lakeville emerged victorious against Stillwater in a closely contested battle, securing a narrow 42-40 win.

Despite each team claiming victory in eight matches, Lakeville's ability to pin proved decisive, as they managed to secure six pins compared to Stillwater's five. The four matches that ended in decision were evenly split between the two teams, highlighting the parity between the two squads.

Individual performances that stood out were victories from Micky Jackson of Stillwater, who secured a hard-fought 2-0 win over Kinley Pederson at 60lbs. Similarly, Bo Becker's performance at 68lbs saw him clinch a 7-2 victory over Zayne Flaskey, showcasing his skill on the mat.

Lakeville's resilience and determination were evident as they secured back-to-back decision victories at 84 and 88lbs, with William Urban defeating Will Condon 6-3 and Jackson Ganfield over Ryder Drexel with a score of 7-0.

In other action, Rogers defeated Westfield 48-37 with pins from Jude Ricks (48), Caleb Spaude (56), Julian Hartl (72), Levi Zierden (80), Ryan Hertwig (84), and Mathew Haggerty (215). 

As we begin round 3, anticipation mounts for the final pool standings, which will determine each team's placement in the Gold or Silver Championship Bracket. Currently, teams such as Centennial, Lakeville, Flat Earth, Becker, and New Prague remain undefeated.

Centennial has looked strong, dominating the competition with impressive performances, winning all but three bouts in two duals. The highly anticipated showdown between Becker and New Prague promises to be a powerhouse clash, as both teams strive to maintain their unbeaten records.
