Boys Elementary Teams Shine

This past weekend, the Minnesota Storm Elementary Girls made waves in Council Bluffs, IA, clinching both the freestyle and Greco-Roman titles at the prestigious Freeco USA National Duals. Their dominant performance left an impression, securing the top spot and showcasing the depth of talent within Minnesota's young female wrestling community.

Freestyle Wrestling Results

The Minnesota Storm Girls displayed exceptional skill and expertise earning the 1st place title with commanding victories over several formidable opponents:

  • 1st Place - Minnesota Storm Girls
  • 2nd Place - Nebraska Red Girls
  • 3rd Place - Kansas Girls
  • 4th Place - Team Missouri Girls
  • 5th Place - Nebraska Blue Girls

Dual Meet Victories:

  • Defeated Kansas Girls 67-11
  • Defeated Nebraska Red Girls 52-27
  • Defeated Team Missouri Girls 69-7
  • Defeated Nebraska Blue Girls 69-12
  • Defeated Team Iowa Girls 52-32

Combined Achievements in Freestyle and Greco-Roman

The combined statistics of the Minnesota Storm Girls across both styles are nothing short of impressive:

  • 31 tech. falls
  • 557 team points
  • 587 match points
  • 10 dual meet wins

Noteworthy individual performances included:

  • Alaina Williams (65 lbs) and Brooklyn Binsfeld (75/80 lbs), each with 7 falls.
  • Kinley Pederson (60 lbs) led with 8 tech. falls.
  • Rhilynn Tolzman (85 lbs) followed with 6 tech. falls.
  • Adriana Kunz (100 lbs) scored the most team points with 54.
  • Rebekah Smith (90 lbs) achieved the highest match points with 17.

Elementary Boys Teams Also Shine

Minnesota Storm also sent two elementary boys' teams to the Freeco Duals, with MN Storm Red finishing 2nd and MN Storm Blue placing 4th in both styles. Key performers included:

  • Jaxson Cardinal (53 lbs), Jacob Graber (59 lbs), Harper Hamacher (86 lbs), and Michael Alexander (135 lbs), all finishing with an 11-0 record.
  • Tucker McLennan (98 lbs) and Michael Alexander each secured 7 pins.
  • Harper Hamacher led with 8 tech. falls.
  • Ivan Larsen (82 lbs) achieved the most single match points with 18.
  • Blaine Olson (59 lbs) scored the most total match points with 103.
