16U and JR Nationals in Fargo
Are you interested in wrestling at the Freestyle and/or Greco National Championships this summer? Minnesota/USA Wrestling wants to field a full team for both styles in all three divisions.
That means we can bring four wrestlers per weight in addition to the wrestlers deemed as auto-qualifiers by USA Wrestling. USA auto-qualifiers are anyone who placed at a FS/GR Regional tournament like Northern Plains, or placed at UWW Nationals in Las Vegas, or was a Fargo All-American last year. They are eligible to wrestle at any weight they choose within the style they are auto-qualified. Therefore, many of the top kids in the state will not be wrestling off for one of the four spots available such as Titan Friederichs, Alex Braun, Davis Parrow, Landon Robiduea, etc…..
If you are a 2024 freestyle or Greco MN/USA state champion, you are considered auto-qualified (do not have to wrestle off) and will be put into one of the four allocated entries for the style and weight you won the title. If you change weights, you will not be auto-qualified and may have to wrestle off, if needed. For example, if Lawson Eller registers at 126lbs for freestyle, he is the MN/USA state champion and there will be 3 spots available for Team MN. In Greco, Eller won Northern Plains and can wrestle any weight he chooses and there are 4 spots available to make the MNstorm team.

We hope sharing the list of auto-qualifiers encourages you to take a shot at Fargo and join team Minnesota this summer at the 16U and Junior Nationals. It's considered the world's largest wrestling tournament and is the pinnacle of high school Olympic-style wrestling in the United States. The 2024 tournament will be held at the FARGODOME from July 13–20 and will feature competition in men's and women's freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling.
