Forest Lake Rangers Ready to Battle at State Duals

Forest Lake, MN – The Forest Lake Rangers youth wrestling team is set to make a statement at the Minnesota/USA Wrestling State Dual Tournament. Under the leadership of Head Coach Brett Pfarr and Assistant Head Coach Mike Pleski, along with a dedicated group of coaches and volunteers, the Rangers have built a reputation for grit, determination, and relentless effort on the mat.

This season has been one of steady progress and major milestones for the Rangers. Key highlights include:

  • Wayzata K-6 Tournament – 5th place finish
  • The Rumble on the Red – 12U secured a victory in their first-ever appearance
  • Stillwater Stampede – 11 wrestlers on the podium, finishing 3rd as a team
  • Kimball K-6 Tournament – Champions
  • Waseca K-3 Tournament – Champions in a thrilling 40-39 comeback victory, needing to pin out from 56# to 74# to secure the title over Kasson

As the postseason approaches, the team has intensified their training, adding extra practices to sharpen their technique and increase live wrestling opportunities. "It’s been a big push these last couple of weeks to make sure we are ready for the big stage. Our goal is simple—overcome our seeding and fight our way to the podium."

The Rangers boast several standout wrestlers, including Briggs Dickey, known for his scrambling ability, Lochlan Kolbow, who embodies a tough and gritty style, and Levi Fraley, whose relentless wrestling mentality never stops. These athletes lead by example, pushing their teammates in live sessions and conditioning drills, setting the tone for the entire squad.

For the Forest Lake Rangers, the dual format brings out something special. "Over the last four years, our team has grown tremendously," said the Forest Lake Coaching Staff. "Watching our younger wrestlers step up in this setting, facing older competitors and proving themselves, is incredible to see." The bonds built through competition have extended beyond the mat, strengthening the team as a community. A season highlight was the team’s recognition as the Youth Team of the Match at the Minnesota vs. Iowa collegiate dual.

The team’s success would not be possible without the commitment of its incredible coaching staff and volunteers:

  • Head Coach: Brett Pfarr
  • Assistant Head Coach: Mike Pleski
  • Team Tournament Director: Joel Dickey
  • Dad Coaches: Kevin Bullis, Erik Derby, Andy Fraley, Jesse Fraley, Jordan Kolbow, Luke Opsahl, Jedd Prokash, Sean Thomas, Matt Vander Vegt, and Jimmy Underdahl

As they enter the state duals, the message is clear: Stay gritty, stay scrappy, and seize every opportunity! LET’S GO RANGERS!
