MILWAUKEE, WI – June 14, 2025 – Minnesota/USA Wrestling proudly announces a 3rd place national finish for Minnesota Blue at the Junior Greco-Roman National Duals, held for the first time ever in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This year’s event featured 34 top teams from across the country, making it one of the most competitive Greco tournaments in the nation.
Minnesota Blue put together a dominant performance in the championship rounds, showcasing depth, toughness, and technical skill throughout the tournament. After commanding wins over Alabama (53-13), Missouri (50-14), Michigan (45-22), Iowa (46-21), and California Blue (36-28), they fell just short in a battle against Utah (37-28). The team bounced back to close out the tournament in dominant fashion with a 55-13 win over Oklahoma, securing 3rd place overall.
Minnesota Red, full of emerging talent, battled their way into the Copper/Bronze bracket and gained valuable national experience. With victories over Louisiana and Oregon, they ultimately finished 16th in the nation.
We’re incredibly proud of both teams for their effort, sportsmanship, and representation of Minnesota wrestling on the national stage.
A huge thank you to our dedicated coaching staff—Eric Swensen, Nate Hanson, Mike Thorn, Doug Paulson, Jake Johnson, and Blake Solberg for mentoring and developing these young athletes. We also extend our gratitude to all the parents, volunteers, and fans who supported our teams both in person and online.
