Minnesota/USA Wrestling is proud to spotlight 12-year-old Jase Lesetmoe, a dedicated student-athlete from Saint Joseph, who wrestles for Holdingford School and Pursuit Wrestling Academy. Jase is known for his strong work ethic, competitive spirit, and positive energy both on and off the mat. Guided by coaches Rylee Molitor, Beau Penk, Robert Knettel, and Jamey Koetter, he has built a reputation as a focused student-athlete who gives his best in everything he does.
A true student of the sport, Jase is an A student in the classroom and an active competitor, wrestling an impressive 30 USA Wrestling events last season across Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman.
When asked what he loves most about wrestling, Jase said “the fight.” His favorite move is the leg turk, and he recalls one of his most memorable matches not for a win, but for a lesson learned: “I’ll never forget it—I lost this match, but it was awesome! I was suplexed into the air during Greco and the match was over before I could even do anything. From then on, I wanted to do that to kids and make them wonder, ‘What just happened?!’”
That mindset—turning setbacks into motivation—is what continues to fuel Jase’s progress. Right now, he’s working hard on improving his front head position, constantly striving to level up his skillset.
When asked who supports him most, Jase said, “My mom is my biggest fan.” His half-sister also loves to come watch him compete, making wrestling a true family affair.
Beyond his work ethic and talent, Jase is one of the best teammates you’ll find. He leads by example, supports others, and makes Pursuit a stronger, more connected team.” — Coach Rylee Molitor, Pursuit Wrestling Academy
Jase’s competitive spirit is matched by his personality. If he could have a superpower to help him wrestle, he’d choose “knowing my opponents’ weaknesses.” His favorite post-meet meal is going to Pizza Ranch, and he brings along a cross necklace for good luck—“because Jesus always helps me.”
When he’s not on the mat, Jase enjoys watching Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and spending time outdoors with hunting and fishing. Looking to the future, he dreams of wrestling for St. Cloud State University or St. John’s University, and if given the choice, he’d love to take home an Olympic medal over a Division I national title.
Jase has his sights set high this season. His goal? “Become a National Champion”
He also has great advice for younger wrestlers: “Along with Folkstyle, always do Freestyle and Greco in the off-season.”
Pursuit Wrestling Academy coach Rylee Molitor had this to say, “Jase is the kind of athlete every coach wants in their room. He shows up consistently, ready to put in the work, and never shy’s away from pushing himself to be better. What truly sets Jase apart is the way he carries himself as a teammate. He brings positive energy every single day, and it’s contagious. He uplifts everyone around him and makes the room better just by being in it."
With his relentless drive, humble attitude, and genuine love for the sport, Jase Lesetmoe represents everything great about youth wrestling in Minnesota. His story is a reminder that success isn’t just measured in wins—it’s found in the fight, the lessons, and the character built along the way.
Keep chasing your goals, Jase. The Minnesota wrestling community is proud to have you representing the future of our sport.
