Minnesota wrestlers once again made their presence felt at the Brian Keck Preseason Nationals this past weekend in Des Moines, Iowa — one of the premier national events to kick off the wrestling season. The Gopher State was well-represented across every division, producing a large group of placewinners and several champions, showing that Minnesota remains one of the toughest wrestling states in the country.

Minnesota wrestlers earning championships included:
Caley Graber (125 lbs) Sawyer Schendel (285 lbs), Jacob Graber (75 lbs), Cameron Rodgers (88 lbs), Freyda Nelson (80 lbs), Adriana Kunz (115 lbs), Gabriel Jasso (82 lbs), Benjamin Ahedo (92 lbs), Bode Hutchinson (98 lbs), Javier Larson (56 lbs), Joshua Brockway (71 lbs), Henry Seidl (84 lbs), and Mariella Masso (62-67 lbs) — an impressive mix of high school, middle school, and youth talent representing clubs across the state.

Minnesota also showcased strong performances from several finalists, each finishing 2nd in their divisions: Anthony Nichols (132 lbs), Gavin Hoeft (106 lbs), Beckett Edstrom (120 lbs), Destan Skelly (175 lbs), Kinsley Kothenbeutel (65 lbs), Rhilynn Tolzman (100 lbs), Benjamin Mack (92 lbs), Jace Evers (98 lbs), Saeed Mirza (49 lbs), Mack Altermatt (62 lbs), Olive Yang-Elson (39.5-45.8 lbs), and Della Thomas (57-60.6 lbs).

These outstanding results reflect the depth and dedication of Minnesota’s wrestling community — from the clubs and coaches developing athletes to the families who support their journeys.  We are proud of all the wrestlers that continue to test themselves on the national stage at USA Wrestling events.
