Fargo Information- Girls National Championships

2024 Key Dates:

March 23rd Freestyle/Greco Kickoff at the University of Minnesota Gopher’s wrestling room. This is a co-ed event for 14u, 16u, and Juniors.
May 10th – 12th Northern Plains Regional Freestyle and Greco Tournament in Rochester, MN
May 18th Cadet and Junior (co-ed) Freestyle and Greco Camp in Waconia at the Safari Island Community Center
June 25th Wrestlers to register and declare Cadet and Junior Fargo Tournament Weight (needed to determine wrestle offs)
June 29th Cadet and Junior Camp Date and Fargo Wrestle off Date ( Wrestle offs only if needed) at STMA High School
July 9th & July 10th Fargo Camp for kids going to Fargo Only (this camp is MANDATORY to compete in Fargo ALL wrestlers must attend (July 10th picture day)
July 12th -14th Fargo Cadet and Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND (16U & Juniors Girls Wrestle the same days)

Girls Fargo Qualification BASICS:

*Note this is different than the Men’s process!

Each state is allowed 4 wrestlers per weight class, not including athletes who are Auto-Qualified. (In past years we have yet to reach the 4 wrestlers limit in any one weight class.)
If you are auto qualified you will still need to register but you are guaranteed a spot on the team, and it does not count towards our 4 person per weight class limit!

How to Automatically Qualify for Nationals and NOT count against the 4/weight class:

Finish 1st-6th place at a USA Regional Event this year
- (placement must be in the same age and style)
Finish 1st-8th place at U15 Nationals this year
- (placement must be in the same style)
Finish 1st-8th place at U17 Nationals this year
- (placement must be in the same style)
Finish 1st-8th place at U20 Nationals this year
- (placement must be in the same style)
Last year placed 1st-8th at Junior Nationals
- (placement must be in the same style)
Last year placed 1st-8th at 16U Nationals
- (placement must be in the same style)
Previous year, age-level World Team member
- (must be in the same style)

Please note: wrestling at regionals is a great way to get auto qualified! – And we would love to grow our girl numbers at these events!

NOT AUTO QUALIFIED:

If you are not Auto qualified for Fargo there are no prerequisites to be on the team (this is different from the Men's Team) but you do need a USA wrestling card, meet the division age and grade requirements, and pre-register.

Process if we have more than 4 girls registered in one weight class:

If there are more than 4 girls in one weight class we will see if any of the girls would like to move weight classes or divisions.
- June 25th - deadline for entering the weight you would like to wrestle if you are not auto qualified.
If we still have 4 girls interested in the same weight, we will inform them that they need to attend wrestle off / evaluation day to secure their spot!
- June 29th – at Saint Michael-Albertville High School
In the event you do not secure a spot at your weight class: we will discuss options such as moving up a weight class if a spot is available or moving up a division.....

All final decisions are to be made by the age group director and state director

Girls Fargo Qualification - 2024

Wrestling at Northern Plains Regional Qualifier is a great way to get Auto-Qualified

We would love to grow the number of girls competing at these events and the closest regional is in Rochester, MN. on May 10th - 12th.
